I am doing a research project on this and this website helped so much! I really enjoyed reading into it, and I believe it is a very important topic. I would also like to say that the World Bank is donating $68 million U.S. dollars to the topic, and the Sry Darya and Amu Darya rivers are being demolished. Thank You!

Probably one of the best-written articles on an aspect of how Mankind's greed is destroying our environment that I have ever read.

I will be sending the link to a number of people I know, unfortunately the people who have gathered 'power' will never take notice.

I have to admit that I am glad to be old enough that I will not survive to see the start of the full impact of our effects on this planet.

Keep up the good work Naked Man in the Tree as there are far too few younger people in this world who care enough to even speak out about the wrongs, let alone try to fight them.

This is not the world I was trying to help build in the 60's and 70's ... :(

Hi nmitt,
it's Jack.
I'm watching a PBS show right now that referred to the Caspian Basin as "the nursery of civilization", and I've been editing all day and I just couldn't wait to share what I have so far any longer...

http://alterman47.wordpress.com/

Now, while it still needs tighter, more engaging language, pictures, formatting, plus a relevant synchronicity~news story section (which is rather lengthy),
alterman47 is a lot of what I got so far.

Mary, if you get this, I'm eager to hear about your project...
I employ synchronicity in nearly every aspect of my life, and I'd love to think that perhaps your project and mine might connect at some point.

~from jealousy, to envy, to share, to love...
~Jack.

I'm currently in the early phases of an interactive new media project loosely based on the Aral. I ran across your article doing research. It is very well written and researched. It presents the topic in a way that allows for personal connection, something that is sorely lacking. I have followed the disaster for almost fifteen years, since I was grad student in NYC. In all that time, I've run across only a handful of individuals who have ever heard of it. Since then, I've researched water issues all over the world. Sad to say there are little Arals happening everywhere. Water is so basic and (for westerners) plentiful that it is taken for granted, existing totally under the radar for most. We need more people to raise the issue in interesting ways as you have done here. Thank you.
